Opportunity overview
As a Senior Node.js Engineer, you will join a forward-thinking project for a Fortune 500 retail leader, working on a smart data aggregator that integrates data from multiple platforms into a unified, user-friendly dashboard. Your work will directly automate previously time-consuming business processes - cutting delivery time from weeks to just one hour.
Expect a high-impact, cloud-native environment (Azure-first) where you'll optimize performance, enhance automation, and shape how users interact with critical business data.

Your Responsibilities
Designing, developing, and maintaining backend services in Node.js and TypeScript, with a focus on scalability, performance, and clean architecture.
Building and scaling RESTful APIs using Express.js, integrating external systems and managing MongoDB-based data storage with Mongoose.
Ensuring code quality through testing (Jest), documentation (Swagger), and strict adherence to engineering best practices.
Collaborating closely with frontend engineers, DevOps, and product owners to deliver high-quality features on time.
Optimizing existing solutions and proposing architectural improvements - taking ownership of technical decisions within your scope.
Contributing to sprint planning, code reviews, and tech discussions, actively advocating for a clean code culture.
Debugging, profiling, and monitoring application performance to ensure reliability and efficiency in production.
What We’re Looking For
4+ years of experience in Node.js and JavaScript/TypeScript in a commercial environment.
Strong command of Express.js, REST APIs, and modern backend best practices.
Proficiency in MongoDB with Mongoose and hands-on experience with unit testing in Jest.
Solid familiarity with architectural patterns and coding standards - SOLID, DRY, KISS, YAGNI.
Comfortable with Git workflows and Agile/SCRUM methodologies.
Strong ownership mindset - proactive, autonomous, and able to drive initiatives in dynamic environments.
Fluent English communication, confident in both technical and cross-functional discussions.
Nice to Have
React experience or a fullstack background.
Experience with TDD and microservices architecture.
Familiarity with OAuth 2.0, JWT, and secure authentication flows.
Hands-on experience with Azure services and Azure DevOps pipelines.
